Terms of service

Nordkastell gives you a managed server of your own, with the apps you choose on it. We run the server, you run your workspace, and these terms set out who is responsible for what.

These terms are not finished. Nordkastell is in early access and nothing is billed. Everything here is true today, and the parts still missing are listed under what is not settled yet.

In short

  • Your content is yours. We run the server it lives on and claim no ownership of it.
  • We manage the server, so we can reach it. You do not get direct access to the machine.
  • Accounts are by invitation during early access, and nothing is billed yet.
  • What we have not decided yet is listed openly rather than left out.

Who these terms are with

Nordkastell is operated by H5 Förnyelsebyrå AB. "We" and "us" mean that company, and "you" means the organisation whose workspace it is. The person accepting these terms does so on the organisation's behalf and must be allowed to.

Early access

Nordkastell is in early access. Accounts need an invitation from us, and nothing is billed: not the workspace, not the apps, not the server.

The product is still changing. Features arrive, move and sometimes disappear, and apps marked as beta may not behave like finished ones. Keep that in mind before relying on it for anything you cannot afford to lose.

We have not set a date for paid subscriptions. We will tell you before that changes.

What is not settled yet

We have not yet written our terms for:

  • When billing starts, and how an early-access workspace converts
  • Trial length
  • Refunds and cancellation
  • Notice before a price change
  • What we do when the rules on acceptable use are broken
  • Whether backups are part of the service
  • What removing an app does to its data
  • How long your data is kept after the agreement ends
  • Uptime commitments
  • How to reach support
  • Warranties
  • The limit of our liability
  • Notice periods for ending the agreement
  • Notice before a material change to these terms
  • Governing law and venue
  • How disputes are handled

Until we do, nothing on this page limits what we owe you, and nobody will be charged under terms that are not published here first.

What we provide

A workspace is a server we set up and manage for you, with the apps you choose installed on it. It has its own web addresses, secured with certificates we renew for you. Every workspace runs in Sweden today.

Because we manage the server, we can reach it: we install and update apps, watch its health and look at logs when something goes wrong. You do not get direct access to the machine and cannot install your own software on it. We use our access to run the server, not to read your content; the privacy policy explains more.

Apps listed as coming soon on our site are not a promise, and nor are the prices shown for them.

The playground

The playground is a public demo workspace anyone can visit. Everything in it is visible to other visitors and it is wiped every night, so do not put anything real in it. The terms about your workspace and data do not apply there.

Your account and your content

You decide who gets an account in your workspace, what role they have and which apps they can use. You are responsible for what they do with that access, and for keeping sign-in details safe. Tell us if you think an account has been taken over.

Your content is yours. We do not claim ownership of it, license it to anyone or use it to train AI models. The software stays ours; you may use it while this agreement runs.

Acceptable use

Use Nordkastell for your business. You may not use it to:

  • Break the law, or help someone else do so.
  • Infringe other people's rights, such as copyright or privacy.
  • Send spam or spread malware.
  • Attack anyone, including us or other customers.
  • Try to get around our management of the server, for example by tampering with our software on it or running your own.

We do not monitor your content to enforce this. It is what we rely on if something on your server causes harm outside it.

Updates

Keeping the software up to date is part of the service. Security updates to the server's operating system are applied automatically. New app versions are installed by you from the dashboard or by us, for example to fix a known fault. After each update we check that the app is healthy, and if it is not, the previous version is put back.

Updates can change how apps look and work, and can remove features as well as add them. During early access this happens more often.

Services you connect

Some features use an account you have elsewhere, such as a calendar in Alma, an AI provider for Reda, or sign-in with Google or GitHub. All of these are optional, and nothing is connected until someone chooses to.

When you connect one, that provider's own terms apply to what you send them. We are not responsible for their service or their prices, and if they cut off access, the feature that depends on them stops working. The AI features do not include a model: you connect your own AI provider and pay them directly.

Fees and payment

Nothing is billed during early access. Once billing starts, you pay a monthly fee for your workspace size plus a monthly fee per app. There is no charge per user. Current prices are on the pricing page. Payments will be handled by a European payment provider, which we will name here before billing starts.

Your data

The privacy policy is part of this agreement. For personal data in your workspace, you are the controller and we are your processor.

We do not make backups for you today, and there is no built-in way to export your data. Keep a copy elsewhere of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Availability and support

We monitor your server and get alerted when something goes wrong. That is how we keep it running, but we do not promise a specific uptime or offer a service level agreement.

Some things a workspace depends on are run by others, such as the hosting provider and the services named in the privacy policy. We cannot make promises on their behalf.

Warranties and liability

We have not written a warranty disclaimer or a liability cap yet, so nothing here reduces what we owe you. When we do, it will not limit liability that mandatory law does not allow us to limit, and it will not apply to anything that happened before it was published.

Ending the agreement

Removing an app is not the same as ending the agreement. We never delete a server's disks without asking you first.

Changes, law and contact

We update these terms as the product changes and as open questions are settled. The date at the top shows the latest change.
