T Tempa

Ask the room.
Then test the class.

Live polls and word clouds for a meeting or a lecture, polls and surveys people answer from a link, and supervised online exams with code questions. One app, on your own EU server.

Tempa's presenter view during a sprint retro: the question “Sum up this sprint in one word” above a word cloud where productive, focused and hectic are the largest words, with the join code 470684 in the corner.

The presenter view on the big screen. Every word someone sends grows its word in the cloud, and the join code stays in the corner for latecomers.

Four ways to ask

Pick one from the same New menu. They share one list of sessions, which you can file under your workspace's projects and filter by type.

Live Check

Present to a room one question at a time. People join from their phones with a six-digit code and the answers fill the screen as they come in.

Poll

One question behind a link, answered whenever people get to it, and anonymous if you want to share it outside the workspace. In Snacka, type /poll and it lands in the channel.

Form

A survey with several questions on one page, sent as a link. Respondents answer at their own pace and submit everything at once.

Exam

A supervised online exam with a class list, a time limit, code questions that run in the browser, and grading that does most of the work for you.

Live Check

Phones up,
answers on the screen

Build a few questions, open the presenter view and show the code or the QR code. People join from their phones without an account, and you move through the questions with the arrow keys while the results draw themselves.

Single choice, multiple choice, rating, free text and word cloud
The room votes free-text answers up or down, and the best rise to the top
In a word cloud, tap someone else's word to back it
An optional timer closes a question on its own
Duplicate a session to run the same questions again next time
A participant's phone in a Live Check: the question “What should we fix first next sprint?” with four answer buttons, Flaky deploys picked, and a Submit Answer button.
A Tempa form on a phone titled Customer survey Q3: a 1 to 5 recommendation scale with 4 picked, “How did you find us?” answered with A colleague, and Meetings and Surveys ticked under “What do you use us for?”.
Polls & Forms

Questions that wait
for people's own time

A poll is one question, a form is a whole survey. Both live behind a link that is hard to guess and stay open until you close them, taking up to 1,000 answers by default. Forms and anonymous polls go to customers as easily as to colleagues; a named poll asks people to sign in to the workspace.

Anonymous, or with a name on every answer
Respondents see an anonymous tally only once three people have answered
A closing date if you want one, and a form can set its own response limit
Results as a summary, or one respondent at a time
See who in the workspace has not answered a named poll yet
Forms are written in plain Markdown, or start from the example

Exams

Code questions that run
in the student's browser

Students write real code in the same editor as VS Code, with types and autocomplete, and see it run beside the question as they type. Nothing runs on your server, and a runaway loop cannot freeze the exam.

A student's code question in Tempa: the task “Build a counter”, a React Counter component written in the editor on the left, and the live preview on the right showing “Clicked 3 times” above a +1 button.
JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and HTML with CSS
Output in a console or a live preview with phone, tablet and desktop sizes
Hono, React Query, React Router, zod, react-hook-form and Jotai ready to import
Single choice, multiple choice and free-text questions in the same exam
Write the exam in Markdown next to a preview of what students will see
Or, with the AI app, ask Reda to draft it from your notes and slides
Supervision

See the whole room
while they write

Students join with the exam code and pick their name from your class list, no account needed. You watch who is connected, how far each one has come and who keeps leaving the tab.

Names on the list are let in at once, anyone else waits for your approval
An optional access code, handed out apart from the join code
A timeline per student of lost focus, copy, paste and answer changes
Answers save as students type, and the exam stops accepting answers at the end time
Hand in for a student who left, or remove a session you do not trust
Results shown at hand-in, when the exam ends, or when you release them
The teacher's view of a running exam, Frontend fundamentals, autumn 2026: eight students with a progress bar and an answered count each, most marked active, three marked as having left, and warning badges on the students who lost focus.

Students are told before they start what is recorded. Tempa sees what happens in the exam page, never the screen, the camera or anything else on the computer.

Grading

Most of the marking, done

Set your grade levels once and Tempa works out each student's grade from the points. The statistics page shows how every question went, live, with score spreads and which questions turned out hard.

Choice questions, graded on the spot

Single and multiple choice are scored the moment a student hands in. On multiple choice each wrong pick cancels a right one, so ticking every box to be safe costs points.

AI grading on your own account

With the AI app installed, free-text and code answers are graded against your rubric by Reda, on the Claude account the exam's host has connected. The answers go to Anthropic under that account, never through Nordkastell. Without the AI app and a Claude connection, those answers wait ungraded until you grade them by hand.

You have the last word

Every grade can be changed or sent back for grading again, and a grade that failed shows as failed, not as a low score. Export the results as Markdown files, grade offline if you prefer, and import the grades back.

Your questions and their answers,
on your own server

Tempa is €5 a month per workspace, for everyone in it. Answers, results and exam activity stay on your own European server, apart from the answers you send to Claude for grading. Try it in the live playground, no signup.
